The Web Design Process

It is in the clients best interest to be involved in the web design process & to maintain regular contact with me throughout the development of your new website. By viewing the phases of the web design process shown below; it should give you a better understanding of what is involved. Also please refer to my terms & conditions.

1. Initial Client meeting

client consultation

The initial meeting gives me an opportunity to learn about your business & the scope of your website project so that I can customise it for your business needs. Please allow 45min to 1 hour.

This would also be a good time for me to assist you in registering your domain name and purchasing web hosting and setting up your domain email eg:

I come to you

2. Things you need to provide

things you need to provide

You will need to provide me with any images, existing logo and of course text content that you want on your site (client is responsible for checking spelling).

You must also provide your FTP/Cpanel login information provided by your web host if you have it.

Dropbox is a great way to get your content to me particularly images, as it supports large file uploads eliminating the need to email them. You don't need to have a Dropbox account for this to work, as I can send requests for files from my own dropbox account.

3. Design & Code your website

design and code website

I prefer to move into the web browser as quickly as possible, this means I delve right into the coding of your site. Using information gathered during our initial meeting I start working on content layout, navigation, and applying styling - the framework I use allows me to do this very efficiently.

A preview of the website will be made available for you to view as the site is being built. The design will be further developed until you're happy with how the site will look and function.

4. Website launch & optimisation

When the design is ready I will upload it to your webhost where it can be accessed by typing in your domain name.

Optimisation of your website pages is actually done from beginning to end. SEO techniques are built into every website I build to help boost your sites visibility in Google search.

Further SEO techniques can be sort, if you need results beyond what I can achieve - from a reputable SEO company or an agency specialising in Google Adwords campaigns.

5. Website handover & CMS tutorial

The final phase is handing over the website to the client. This involves a 1 hour session in which I will show you how to login and make changes to your site. The Content Management System allows you to do this with ease from anywhere there is an internet connection and a browser however the only exception to this, is the filemanager will not work with Apple Safari browser.

Any final adjustments will be made to make sure your website works as expected on mobile devices and different browsers.
