Website Design Project for Henry Parkes Motor Inn
The Henry Parkes Motor Inn was referred to me by a valued client who frequently enjoyed their hospitality, highlighting a clear and present need for a comprehensive website revamp. Owner James recognised that their existing website was significantly outdated and no longer served the inn's needs effectively. The old site was notoriously difficult to edit, built on a cumbersome, proprietary platform that lacked a user-friendly interface and required technical expertise for even minor content updates. This made maintaining fresh information, updating room availability, or posting special offers a time-consuming and frustrating administrative burden for James and his team.
Crucially, the website failed to adequately showcase the inn's diverse range of rooms and amenities. Poor photo presentation, limited dedicated space for each room type, and an uninspiring layout did not convey the true comfort, cleanliness, and quality that the Henry Parkes Motor Inn proudly offered. Prospective visitors struggled to easily find essential information, navigate the site effectively, or access a reliable and intuitive booking system, leading to frustrating user experiences and potentially lost reservations. A significant technical flaw was the complete absence of mobile responsiveness, rendering the site impractical and visually broken on smartphones and tablets – a crucial oversight in today's mobile-first digital landscape. This not only impacted user satisfaction but also hindered search engine visibility and overall accessibility. James sought a modern, intuitive website that truly represented his inn, simplified internal operations, and offered a seamless booking journey for all prospective guests.
Following a detailed and productive telephone consultation with owner James, I gained a precise understanding of his vision, specific web development requirements, and the pain points that the new website needed to address. This clear brief allowed me to immediately begin drafting a bespoke design concept that would transform the Henry Parkes Motor Inn's online identity. The re-design meticulously integrated their new branding and a refreshed, inviting colour scheme, establishing a fresh, professional, and aesthetic online presence that resonated with the inn's welcoming atmosphere.
A core component of the new development was a fully mobile-responsive design, ensuring an optimal viewing and interaction experience across all devices, from large desktop monitors to compact smartphones and tablets. This crucial improvement in accessibility and user experience was coupled with the strategic placement of prominent, intuitive call-to-action buttons, guiding visitors effortlessly towards key information and facilitating direct bookings. We implemented a more functional and space-saving layout to effectively showcase the available rooms, with each suite featuring clear descriptions, highlighted amenities, and high-quality images. An extensive image gallery was added, providing prospective guests with a visual tour of various interior photos for each suite on offer, significantly enhancing engagement and building confidence in their choice. Crucially, the link to their third-party booking system was thoroughly revised and rigorously tested, ensuring flawless functionality and a seamless reservation process on both desktop and mobile devices. Finally, the entire website was built on a user-friendly, custom Content Management System (CMS), empowering James and his team with the ability to easily update content, images, and special offers independently, ensuring the site remains current and dynamic without reliance on external technical support.
